To date, I have attended three separate session with the OpenBIM initiative. This is just initial notes, to be updated with any relevant information later. I have also interviewed M\u00e5rten Lindstr\u00f6m and Rogier Jongeling, the project leaders of the initiative, for the forthcoming Arkus publication.<\/p>\n

ssark joined as a membership organization in November 2009, on my recommendation. The objective here is to get an inside view of the ideas and processes started, as well find opportunities to get support for the firm\u00b4s own continued development. Even if ssark was once known for being progressive with CAD-development, we now suffer from informal IT-management and not being up to date with the technologies of Building Information Modelling\/Management.<\/span><\/p>\n
The first session was the yearly meeting of members, a very brief and informal event,of which I could only conclude that there may be opportunities to be part of “implementation projects”, in which certain ideas could be tested with small financial support from OpenBIM.<\/span><\/p>\n
The second session on 8\/12 2009 was a meeting with researchers, in which I accompanied \u00d6rjan. We were the only parties representing architecture in any way, and no architecture school was formally represented. Our conclusion was that the level of discussion was very low, with the occasional quite unsettling comments (we can visualize, therefor we do not need architects).\u00a0 The further contact between OpenBIM and academia is yet to be seen.<\/span><\/p>\n
The third session was an open seminar 26\/1 2010. A brief list of issues below.

- BIM fr\u00e5gorna drivs nu mer och mer fr\u00e5n ledningsniv\u00e5.<\/li>\n
- Best\u00e4llare har b\u00f6rjat f\u00f6rst\u00e5 vinsterna av att utnyttja BIM: Mindre byggfel, fler simuleringar, enklare upphandling. M\u00e5nga arkitekter och andra konsulter\u00f6nskar tydligare krav fr\u00e5n best\u00e4llarsidan f\u00f6r att kunna driva BIM-utv.<\/li>\n
- BIM \u00e4r mer \u00e4n ett projekteringverktyg, snarare process- och kommunikations\u00e4tt. D\u00e4r det kommer att b\u00e5de kr\u00e4va kompetensutveckling och nya typer av tj\u00e4nster i flera led av bygg- och projekteringsorganisationerna.<\/li>\n
- OPEN. F\u00f6r att BIM skall kunna utvecklas och nyttjas av m\u00e5nga skall utbytet av information ske p\u00e5 \u00f6ppna plattformar med \u00f6ppna- eller standardformat. Flera h\u00e5ller p\u00e5 att utv plattformar, d\u00e4r filformatet ofta \u00e4r IFC http:\/\/www.eurostep.com\/ http:\/\/drofus.no\/ http:\/\/www.samrum.se\/<\/li>\n
- Sp\u00e5ra \u00e4ndringar, genom de olika plattformarna kan man se vem som har \u00e4ndrat och vad som \u00e4ndrats.<\/li>\n
- PLM Product Lifecycle Management. BIM som en plattform f\u00f6r underh\u00e5ll av eftermarknaden med kontroll av service och f\u00f6r\u00e4ndringar. Information skall bara beh\u00f6va matas in en g\u00e5ng.<\/li>\n
