As part of the AA Dip16 Stockholm studytrip 15-17/10, we met Mikael Lindström and Harry Brunner from Biomime/Albanove. This was facilitated by Mats Brodén, who is setting up a network for bimomimetic research with ties into design and architecture.
Mikael presented new material researhc into wood fibers, very interesting presentation. He also put forward a reflection on how material research is lnked to the production sde of the industry, while design is frequently linked to the market side. Then there is little interaction between production and market within the specific company. I look forward to think more about this in forthcoming research.
Harry presetned nano-level marterial research, with a focus on self assembly.
I found a discussion on design tools and analytical tools within their work, in particular in relation to what we are used to. We hope for a continued exchage though our AA students, I am sure many of them will pick up these issues and workrigorously with them.
